|Welcome to Cady Clay Works, the handmade pottery studio of John Mellage and Beth Gore. John's elegant forms, thrown on the potter's wheel, and Beth's unique handbuilt pieces are made from sturdy stoneware clays layered with colorful glazes or decorated by ash and flame during the annual wood-kiln firing.
Cady Clay Works is located in the Westmoore community, just south of Seagrove, North Carolina, where pottery has been made by hand for over two hundred years. John and Beth make functional ware such as dinnerware, serving bowls, baking dishes and platters as well as decorative vases, lamps and garden sculpture. Unique items such as lavatory sinks are available by special order. Wedding registries are also welcome.
Pottery shoppers can also tour the working studio. Please call ahead if you would like to schedule a throwing demonstration by John.
The Seagrove Area of central NC features the beautiful, rolling hills of the ancient Uwharrie Mountains. Just north of Cady Clay Works is the city of Asheboro and the North Carolina Zoological Park. To the south, the Pinehurst area is the home of famous golf resorts. There are several charming B&B inns in the vicinity.
The next time you need a gift, consider giving a unique piece of Cady Clay Works pottery, handmade in North Carolina. John and Beth thank you for supporting the arts and look forward to seeing you in their store!
